Portraiture can mean many things. A portrait is a likeness - does it have to be of a human ? A portrait of an animal, or a car, is just as acceptable. I like to try and vary my portraits, whether of people, or less animate objects. The possibilities are endless, but if you are commissioned to produce a portrait, it is probably better to stick to the more accepted methods of posing or lighting. I have also tended to keep clear of wide angle portraiture. I`ve never been convinced that some of the grotesque close shots that I`ve seen with wide angles had any merit at all - but everyone to their own. I tend to shot both types of shot during a session - those meant to please the sitter, and those meant to please me. Not necessarily the same !
